INCOME SUPPORTS

Goal
Community members have access to adequate income that supports their needs and allows for community participation.

Why It Matters
Adequate income helps people meet their basic needs, maintain their health and well-being, and participate in community life. Income supports, employment opportunities, and access to benefits and services can help reduce financial pressures and improve quality of life.

What We’re Doing
The Coalition works with community members and partners to:

• Promote ‘Living Wage’ certification among local employers.
• Share information with the community about food security resources for people with limited incomes.
• Support front-line service providers in connecting community members to available resources and services.
• Promote free income tax clinics and increase awareness of the benefits of filing income taxes.
• Advocate for adequate social assistance.
• Participate in discussions and consultations related to universal basic income and other poverty reduction strategies.
