ELGIN ST. THOMAS HOUSING

Housing is one of our most fundamental needs. Its impact goes well beyond a basic requirement for shelter.  Having a safe and affordable place to live impacts nearly all aspects of our lives:  health and wellbeing, educational attainment, employment opportunities, income security and dignity as we age.  Unfortunately many residents of St. Thomas and Elgin County do not have access to safe and affordable housing.  Many families struggle to make ends meet month to month, shelter usage is on the rise and sleeping rough continues as a reality for some of our most vulnerable residents.  As a collective, we are working together to prevent homelessness, respond quickly to those who are homeless and develop strategies to sustain and grow housing.  Our action orientated work lies within the following:  Taking Action on Youth Homelessness, Taking Action on Women’s Homelessness, Coordinated Access System Advisory Group and the Housing and Homelessness Action Group

St. Thomas Elgin is a Built for Zero Community.  For more information about Built for Zero, click here.
